UNIJA proclaimed Best accounting firm for second year in a row
Portorož 14 October – Within this year's Accounting Firm Congress, organised by the Chamber of Accounting Services acting within the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, UNIJA računovodska hiša d.d., founder of the Accounting Institute was proclaimed Best accounting firm for the second year in a row. This year, the selection was split into three categories: small, medium-sized and large accounting firms, and it was among the large category that UNIJA reaffirmed its recognition from last year to become Best accounting firm 2010. Among the finalists of the category this year were Vizija računovodstvo d.d. and Kontim d.o.o.
The Chamber of Accounting Services has organised for third year in a row the Best accounting firm contest among its members. This is an event aiming at spreading in wider business community the awareness on the importance of having high-quality accounting firms.
Among all the accounting firms that applied, the independent panel comprising mag. Romana Logar, Director of AJPES, Silvester Zaman, approved auditor, Plus revizija d.o.o. , doc. dr. Tatjana Horvat, lecturer at the Faculty of Management Koper and programme head of the training Taxes, accounting and finance at Finance Business Academy, Alenka Avberšek, Executive Director, Lobbying Centre, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, and Alenka Maher, Kadrovski inženiring, Alenka Maher s.p., evaluated the candidates and selected 9 finalists in the three categories. Two members of the expert panel (approved auditor and psychologist) visited the finalists' headquarters to talk about their working methods and report to other members of the expert panel. Based on the submission, an in-depth discussion, reports, information and the data collected, the expert panel selected the Best accounting firm 2010.
Particularly typical of large accounting firms is their great consideration of the development of information technologies and organisation of working processes. On top of the usual accounting services, they normally provide various types of counselling as regards taxes, business matters, human resources and finance. This year's holder of the title Best accounting firm in the category LARGE particularly excels due to the introduction of completely paperless operation, as UNIJA was the first accounting firm to have acquired the permission for paperless operation granted by The Archives of the Republic of Slovenia. Furthermore, UNIJA boasts an incredibly good system of informing and educating their clients. Also excellent is their system of informing their clients of their operations, as their reports to managements are regular and understandable.
Having the working process organised in a modern way, responsibilities and authorisations can be assumed with regard to accountants. This also enables a mentorship system for accountants and new colleagues, which leads to systematic and quality operations of the accounting firm. The system of operations in the field of human resources is also of major importance – annual interviews, monitoring the satisfaction of employees, recognising the employee potential, education, and the mentorship system ensure systematic efforts towards the progess of staff.
Operations of Unija also reach outside Slovenia, where their services are mainly offered to companies of Slovenian ownership operating in ex-Yugoslav markets.
